Poker machine revenue for NSW is due to hit $9 billion annually by the year 2029. This will be an increase of $2.5 billion. Meaning people will spend $85 billion on slot machines in the next 10 years. It also means the NSW Treasury will take $2.5 billion of that in gaming machine taxes. That is, just 8.3 per cent of directors are women in a sector which raked in $11.5 billion in poker machine revenue alone over the past ten years. These numbers are based on website searches. Based on the clubs’ 2017 annual reports, 179 of the total of 195 directors were men. Thirteen of these largest clubs in NSW had no women directors at all. Australians are the biggest gamblers in the world. NSW is the biggest gambling state and poker machines in clubs are the biggest gambling segment. The 69,552 club poker machines tipped in $776 million in state gaming taxes last year.
